The Grand Opening Launch Ceremony at the NASTAR Center was a stellar success! Thank you to all of you who came and participated in the event on October 4th, which also happened to be the 50th anniversary of the launch of Sputnik I and the beginning of the space age.

Buzz Aldrin, Anousheh Ansari, and Greg Olsen were on hand to help us commemorate the day. They reflected on the significance of the first 50 years of spaceflight, and painted glowing pictures of the next fifty years, in which private citizens will have the opportunity to experience space, as Buzz Aldrin did as a NASA astronaut, and Anousheh Ansari and Greg Olsen did as Private Space Travelers to the International Space Station.

Over 180 people attended the Launch Ceremony, including NASA representatives, representatives from the Pennsylvania government and other governmental leaders, aerospace industry and business leaders, educators, and researchers. We received a commendation and recognition from the Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania, congratulating us on opening the NASTAR Center. We watched demonstration space launch simulations and heard excellent presentations from Anousheh and Greg (Buzz, unfortunately, was called away by urgent family matters, but he did ride the space launch profile on the centrifuge the day before, commenting, "pretty good. I haven't felt this in a while.").

Again, thanks to all of you who could join us. We hope you had as wonderful a time as we did. If you did not make it here, we would love to see you here sometime, to show you around and discuss how NASTAR Center can help you achieve your goals. Whether you attended or not, we welcome your comments and inquiries.
